Account Creation and Access Issues

Question: I am trying to register for the first time using the Rhode Island Supreme Court Attorney Portal, but I do not know the month and year I took the bar exam or the date I was sworn in to the Rhode Island Bar.

Answer:   If you are asked for this information, you are using the "New Attorney Registration" feature on the Attorney Portal. This section is only for newly sworn in attorneys who have not yet registered with the Supreme Court for the first time and do not have a Rhode Island bar number. If you were newly sworn in and do not have this information, please email attorneyreginfo@courts.ri.gov.

If you already have a Rhode Island bar number and you wish to access the Rhode Island Supreme Court Attorney Portal for the first time, you must use the "Create an Account" feature.

Question: When I login to the Rhode Island Supreme Court Attorney Portal I receive a message that my account is not activated but I already entered all the required information. What is the problem?

Answer:   You have not activated your account. That email includes a link that you must click in order to activate your account. When you click the link, you will be brought to the Rhode Island Supreme Court Attorney Portal homepage. Once you activate your account, you can login to the Rhode Island Supreme Court Attorney Portal using your Rhode Island bar number and the password you just created for your account via the "Attorney Login" feature.

Question: I clicked "forgot my password" but never received an email response. What is the problem?

Answer:
The issue can be one of the following:
1. You are entering the wrong Rhode Island bar number; or
2. The Clerk's Office has an outdated email address for you.
If you need assistance on either of these issues, please email
attorneyreginfo@courts.ri.gov.

Question: I tried the "forgot my password" feature but I still cannot access the Rhode Island Supreme Court Attorney Portal. What do I do next?

Answer:   Please email attorneyreginfo@courts.ri.gov to advise us of the issue and we can reset your password. Upon resetting your password, you will receive an email with a temporary password. Question: I do not remember my security question. What should I do?

Answer:   Please email us at attorneyreginfo@courts.ri.gov and we can provide it to you. If that does not work, we can reset your security question. Upon resetting your security question, you will receive an email notifying you that your security question has been reset. You can then login with your Rhode Island bar number and password. Once in the Rhode Island Supreme Court Attorney Portal, you will be prompted to create a new security question and answer.

Question: I was recently sworn in to the Rhode Island Bar how do I create an account on the Rhode Island Supreme Court Attorney Portal so I can register and obtain a bar number?

Answer:   After being sworn in you have ninety (90) days to register with the Supreme Court and obtain a bar number. By doing so, you will register and create an account on the Rhode Island Supreme Court Attorney Portal at the same time. Simply click on the "New Attorney Registration" link, provide the information requested, submit payment of your initial $200.00 registration fee, and your bar number will be sent to you in an email.

After obtaining your bar number, you can now login to the Rhode Island Supreme Court Attorney Portal by using the "Attorney Login" feature.

If more than ninety (90) days has passed since being sworn in, you must contact attorneyreginfo@courts.ri.gov for information on how to proceed.

Question: I am attempting to register and obtain a bar number but when I enter my registration information a pop up appears saying that my information does not match?

Answer:   Please email us at attorneyreginfo@courts.ri.gov to confirm that we have correct and updated information for you.
